Youth dies from illegal electricity connection in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: A youth died after reportedly coming in contact with a live electric wire at an open field in Palalahada town in Angul district today.

The deceased youth has been identified as Gulu Mohanta, a resident of Mohanta Sahi in Palalahada town.

The locals found the charred body of the youth lying at a field in the morning.

According to reports, the 33-year-old youth had been to a field situated behind the Malyagiri College to irrigate through a motor for vegetable farming. For this purpose, he had power connection illegally by connecting an open GI wire with an active wire from a classroom of the college.

He was electrocuted at night on Saturday when he reportedly touched the open GI wire, which was active at that time.

On receiving information, the police and electricity officials reached the site and initiated probe into the incident.

Police suspected that the youth died of electrocution after he came in contact with illegal power connection.
