Youth drowns during aunt’s post-death ritual in Odisha’s Balasore
Bhubaneswar: A youth reportedly drowned in Kanchudi river in Simulia area of Balasore district in Odisha during the post-death ritual of his aunt today.
The deceased has been identified as Manas Ranjan Swain (23), son of Niranjan Swain, of Somanathpur under Simulia police limits.

Alok Swain and Tapas Swain, two relatives of Manas, were swept away by the strong current during the post-death ritual today afternoon. Manas too swept away in the river when he tried to rescue the duo, sources said.
On being informed, the Fire Brigade personnel reached the spot and rescued the trio.
Manas was rushed to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in a critical condition. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.
