Youth ends life in police custody in Odisha’s Ganjam

Ganjam: A youth reportedly killed himself in the custody of Chamakhandi police in Ganjam district of Odisha today.

The deceased has been identified as CH Trilochan Reddy of Chamakhandi village. The police had detained Reddy in connection with a domestic discord yesterday.

According to sources, Reddy used to assault his father in an inebriated condition. His father had lodged an FIR in this regard with the police a few days ago.

“Reddy was detained by Chamakhandi police in connection with the domestic discord yesterday. He tried to end his life in the custody in the wee hours of today. He was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur in a critical condition. He died in the hospital,” said Ganjam Superintendent of Police (SP) Brijesh Kumar Rai.
