Youth flees with motorcycle after test ride in Odisha capital, arrested

Twin City Commissionerate police today arrested a youth from Odisha capital for allegedly looting a two-wheeler in the garb of a potential buyer from a person who had posted an advertisement on an online free classified site.

According to reports, the complainant Biswanath Patri (21) from Rail Vihar Colony had posted an advertisement on online marketplace OLX to sell his motorcycle.

A youth expressed interest to buy the vehicle owing which he contacted the owner. The duo reached Nalco Square on Tuesday where the accused asked the owner for a test ride to get a fair idea on the vehicle, which the owner obliged.

However, the complainant realized that he has been conned as the accused didn’t return after waiting for long. Following this, he filed a case at Chandrasekharpur police station regarding the alleged loot of his vehicle.

Police registered as case under section 420/379/34 of IPC and began investigation into the incident.

After investigating the matter, the cops traced the accused identified as 21-year-old Iswar Chandra Pradhan – a resident of Phase-III in Dumduma area under Khandagiri police limits and arrested him under section 419/420 379 of IPC.

The motorcycle Bajaj Pulsar bearing registration number OD 33E 6281 was recovered from his possession. He will be produced before the court tomorrow.
