Youth flees with wife, son after shooting father to death in Mayurbhanj in Odisha
Sources said the accused had come home and was having his meal when the father-son duo got involved in a heated discussion.
Baripada: In a shocking incident, a youth shot and killed his father over a dispute in Udala in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district here today. The deceased was identified as Tilu Nayak of Kashikundala village within Udala police limits. His son Kailash Nayak reportedly is on the run after committing the crime.
Sources said the accused had come home and was having his meal when the father-son duo got involved in a heated discussion. As the argument got uglier, Kailash got infuriated and in a fit of rage took out his country gun he had kept earlier. He then shot at Tilu who suffered bullet injury in his neck and collapsed in the verandah of the house. Hearing the gunshot, people in the neighbourhood rushed to the spot but Kailash reportedly aimed the gun at them and did not allow the villagers to come near Tilu’s body. He then fled with his wife and son.
On getting information, Udala police reached the place and seized the body for postmortem. The country gun and the broken parts of a metal rod used as a bullet were recovered as well from the backyard of the house.
A case has been registered and search is on to nab the accused, police said.
