Bhadrak: A Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) court today awarded 10 years of jail term to a youth for sexually assaulting a minor girl and impregnating her in 2016.

Judge Pranati Sahu also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the accused, Sk Iqbal of Miramahala village under Purunabazar police limits after convicting him in the case.

Reportedly, Iqbal had lured the minor girl, a Class IX student, and raped her on December 29, 2016. When the victim’s family members came to know about the incident, they had lodged a complaint at Purunabazar police station. After registering a case, police had arrested Iqbal in January 3, 2017.
