Youth held for impregnating Class VI girl student in Odisha’s Sundergarh

Sundergarh: In a shameful incident, a minor girl was found pregnant under Raiboga police limits in Kuanrmunda block of Sundergarh district.

According to reports, a minor girl who is a Class VI student was allegedly raped by a youth identified as John Paul Kerketa, aged 36 of the same village. John used to lure the girl with marriage proposal and establish physical relationship.  He then threatened the girl killing her parents if she discloses the matter before anyone.

When the minor girl fell sick, her mother informed Asha health worker about her illness. The girl was then admitted to IGH in Rourkela where it was found that she is eight months pregnant.

Based on a complaint lodged by the minor girl at Raiboga police station, the Birmitrapur SDPO arrested the accused and forwarded him to the court.
