Youth kills 80-year-old father in Jajpur; Here’s why

Jajpur: Land dispute took an ugly turn in a family after a youth beat his 80-year-old father to death at Kamarsahi village under Dasarathpur block in Jajpur district this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Radheshyam Behera.

Sources said Behera and his younger son Pramod had been fighting with each other over land dispute for a long time. Even, probibitory order under Section-144 of CrPC was clamped on a land of the family and both were restricted from using it.

On Sunday night, the duo had exchanged a war of words over the issue. The situation turned violent today, after both the father and the son started attacking each other with wooden sticks. Both were critically injured in the attack and admitted to Mangalpur Community Health Centre (CHC), where Behera succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, police detained Pramod and are interrogating him in connection with incident.
