Youth makes photos, videos of intimate moments with his beloved viral on social media, arrested

Bhubaneswar: A youth was arrested today by Kharvelnagar police in Bhubaneswar for allegedly making some photos and videos of intimate moments with his beloved viral on social media.

The arrested was identified as Lokanath Moharana, aged about 25 years and the son of Subash Chandra Moharana from Badahat village under Town police limits of Kendrapara district.

A police source said that Lokanath works as sales executive in a jewellery house located at Janpath of Unit-3 under Kharvelnagar police limits of the Capital City.

The victim girl lodged an FIR against Lokanath on September 26 at around 10.05 pm alleging that she was in relationship with the youth when she was previously working at the same jewellery house. Lokanath had earlier captured some intimate photos and videos with her in his mobile phone. He was blackmailing her saying to send the photos and videos to her family members. Lokanath also sent the photos and videos to her brother-in-law through his own (the accused) Facebook account.

Based on the FIR, the accused Lokanath was arrested and later forwarded to a court here.

Kharvelnagar police registered a case (No-319, dtd-26.09.2022, under Sections 417, 493 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 66(E), 67 and 67(A) of the IT Act, 2008, in this connection.

A detailed probe is underway, a senior official in the police station informed.
