Unidentified bike-borne miscreants shot dead a youth in broad daylight in Odisha’s Angul district today.

The deceased youth has been identified as Sashibhusan Das (22) alias Gopal, son of Nanda Kishore Das of Lakeipasi village under Talcher block.

Reports said Sashibhusan who had gone to play cricket in Nalam village under Kaniha block was attacked while he was returning home with two of his friends at around 2.30 PM after having lunch at Balia.

Five miscreants astride two bikes coming from opposite directions stopped Sashibhusan’s vehicle. While his two friends managed to escape, Sashibhusan was first attacked by the miscreants with a bhujali and later shot dead. The miscreants shot him in his head which led to his death on the spot, reports added.

Police are investigating the matter and suspect it to be a case of previous rivalry.
