Youth stealing costly articles to buy gifts for girl friend arrested along with two accomplices

Khallikote: A bike and electronic gadget theft gang was busted today at Chamakhandi under this police limits and Chhatrapur block in Ganjam and three youths were arrested in this connection.

Interestingly, the members were stealing various costly items to accumulate the money required for giving precious gifts to a girl friend and for paying their house rent as well.

According to a source, two of them are minors and one is a major. The grown up youth and chief of the gang identified as Arjun Behera was residing in a rented house in Chhatrapur. The two accomplices were Plus II students and had been sharing the rented house along with Arjun. The three friends adopted theft when they faced crunch of money to pay their rent and gift Arjun’s girl friend.

Initially, they were stealing milk packets since last December and gradually the youths started stealing bikes, laptops, desktops, induction cooker and gas cylinders, the police source stated.

“Police have seized six motorcycles, a laptop, a desktop, a gas cylinder and two central processing units (CPUs) from the possession of the gang members. Arjun was forwarded to court and the two minors were sent to Juvenile Correction Centre in Berhampur,” IIC Sudeep Kumar Sahu said.
