Bhubaneswar: The officials of Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) on the outskirts of Odisha capital today rescued a man who reportedly attempted to commit suicide by jumping into a tiger enclosure.

As per reports, one Prakash Kumar Pani, a resident of Balikuda, was apprehended by the zoo officials while he was scaling the iron mesh of the enclosure. He was about to jump into the 31 (A) enclosure when the alert officials pulled him down.

"We saw a man trying to scale the 20-feet iron mesh of the enclosure where the Nandan and Baahubali have been kept. He was clutching some documents in his arms. We tried to divert his attention by throwing stones at him and succeeded in our effort. We pounced on him and pulled him back," a zoo official said.

The man working as an electrician was handed over to Nandankanan police station. The police personnel were questioning him to ascertain under what circumstances he resorted to such extreme step.

Notably, the said enclosure houses two tigers.
