Bhubaneswar: In increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Odisha, 6 more patients died under treatment in last 24 hours.
While 4 patients succumbed to the deadly virus in the State, two COVID patients died due to other health complications.
"Regret to inform of the demise of 4 Covid positive patients while under treatment in hospital," informed State Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) Department today.
According to the State Health Dashboard, all four deaths were reported from COVID hotspot Ganjam district.
COVID-19 death toll in the State rose to 56 after the virus claimed 4 more lives.
Here're details of 4 fresh deaths:
1. Male of 41 years of Ganjam district, also suffering from Hypertension.
2. Male of 58 years of Ganjam district.
3. Male of 48 years of Ganjam district, also suffering from Diabetes.
4. Male of 32 years of Ganjam district, also suffering from Diabetes.
Following fresh deaths, the toll in Ganjam district increased to 34.
Meanwhile, two more deaths other than COVID-19 have been reported in last 24 hours in the State.
"Regret to report the death of two Covid positive cases due to other causes," the State H&FW Department Dashboard stated.
While one person died in Bhadark district, another patient succumbed to other health complications in Sundargarh district.
In Sundargarh district, a 57-year-old male of Sundargarh district died due to Lung cancer. In Bhadrak district, a 70-year-old male infected with COVID-19 died due to cancer of the bladder with metastasis.
With this, the number of deaths other than COVID rose to 17 in Odisha.
In the morning, Odisha has reported a huge spike of 755 new COVID-19 positive cases taking the total count to 11,956 with 4,476 active cases.
