8 killed, 3 injured in road accident

Bhawanipatna, Feb 20:

Eight members of a bridegroom party including three children were killed and three others seriously injured when a Bolero jeep in which they were travelling overturned near Sagada under Kalahandi sadar police station limits in the late night  hours on Thursday.

According to reports, a bridegroom party was returning to Dhanapur village after attending a marriage ceremony at Chahagan village when the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle which hit a roadside tree and later overturned and fell into a roadside ditch killing seven  persons on the spot.

The incident took place at about 1 AM.

Local villagers rescued the injured passengers and rushed them to the district headquarters hospital where one of the passengers succumbed to his injuries.

The condition of three of the injured persons is stated to be critical.
