Drone cameras to be deployed at Odisha’s Similipal soon

Baripada, Mar 2:

In view of safety of tigers and keeping watch on movement of wild animals, the Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) authorities have decided to deploy drone cameras soon at Similipal Sanctuary in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha.

With the deployment of drone cameras, it will be easier for the sanctuary officials to keep close watch on the movement of all the wild animals and activities of hunters at the sanctuary.

“As it is a difficult task to move all the areas of the sanctuary, we can track and monitor the movement of wild animals in the forest and check illegal activities through the drone cameras”, said Regional wildlife conservator Harish Chandra Bista.

Four drones will be deployed in the first phase to cover the core areas (2,750 square kilometer) of the sanctuary, said STR Deputy Director Ajit Satpathy.
