Heavy rain, lighting alert for these Odisha districts today

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm is likely to lash many parts of the state today as the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) issued Orange and Yellow warnings for several districts.

Issuing Orange Warning, the SRC said light to moderate rain with one or two intense spell of rain is very likely to occur over some parts districts like Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha (including Bhubaneswar city), Cuttack, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Kalahandi for the next three hours.

This may cause waterlogging in low-lying areas and traffic disruption due to poor visibility, cautioned the SRC.

Issuing Yellow warning, it said moderate rain is very likely to occur over some parts of districts like Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Deogarh and Keonjhar during the next three hours.

“People are advised to keep a watch on weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning strike,” the SRC added.
