All Anganwadi Centres across Odisha to remain shut till April 30

Bhubaneswar: After declaring a five-day holiday for all schools across the state in view of heatwave condition, Odisha Government declared closure of all Anganwadi Centre (AWCs) for the same period.

Considering the intense heatwave condition prevailing in the state, the Women and Child Development (W &CD) Department decided to close all AWCs across the state with effect from April 26 to 30.

The department wrote a letter to all district Collectors directing them to take necessary action in this regard.

Yesterday, the School and Mass Education Department informed that closure of the schools will not affect conduct of Class 10 and 12 board examinations, scheduled to begin on April 29 and April 28, respectively.

Earlier, the state Government decided to curtail the summer vacation for school students to complete the syllabus. The department has fixed the holiday for schoolchildren from June 6 to 16, though parents have been demanding preponement of the vacation in view of the heatwave condition.

Similarly, Higher Education Department has declared summer vacation for college and university students from June 1 to 16.
