Another High School closed in Odisha as teacher, students test COVID positive

Dhenkanal: Siddheswari Government High School at Raynrusinghapur in Kamakhyanagar block of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district has been closed as a woman teacher and five girl students of the educational institution tested positive for COVID-19.

The Headmaster of the High School took the decision of closing it after the six contracted the virus.

Earlier, Kanapura High School in Kamakhyanagar area of Dhenkanal district was closed for seven days after 20 persons, including 14 students, tested positive for COVID-19.

According to reports, as many as 344 samples of students and staffers of the school were collected for COVID-19 test. A total of 14 students (hostel boarders), 5 teachers and a peon of the educational institution tested positive for the virus.

Following the incident, a decision was taken for closure of the school for seven days. While the students have been sent to their houses, online classes are underway.

Similarly, two girl students of Kotagara High School in the district have also tested positive for the virus.

Anlabereni Medical Officer Pramil Kumar Pradhan informed that a Rapid Response Team (RRT) has given medicine to the infected persons and advised them for home isolation.
