Bhubaneswar, July 12:

Gandhians and activists of several anti-liquor organisations, who are spearheading their campaign supporting total prohibition in Odisha, will go for an indefinite hunger strike and stage a mass dharna before the state Assembly on July 16 protesting against the government’s apathetic attitude towards their demand.

The activists will stage a dharna under the banner of Milita Odisha Nisha Nibaran under the leadership of freedom fighter Padma Charan Nayak.

“The fight against liquor will succeed only with the sincere desire of the state government to eradicate this menace. However, it seems the government has no intention to curb it as the Chief Minister refused to meet some prominent activists, including Justice Pratap Keshari Mishra and Padmashree Tulasi Munda, to discuss the issue. So, we have decided to protest against the apathetic attitude of the government,” said Nayak in a press release.
