Arrested in graft case, senior Odisha cop sent to jail

Dhenkanal: Hindol SDPO Malay Kishore Nayak, who was arrested by Vigilance yesterday on charges of demanding and accepting Rs 30,000 bribe, was sent to jail today.

The senior cop was sent to judicial custody after his bail plea was rejected by Dhenkanal Special Vigilance Court today.

Meanwhile, the anti-graft wing has appealed to the court for a three-day remand of the accused for interrogation. The court will hear the matter tomorrow.

Earlier yesterday, officials of the anti-corruption wing from Cuttack caught the SDPO red-handed while he was accepting the bribe from a stone quarry lease holder in Karanda area of Dhenkanal district.

As per the complainant, the senior cop had asked Dukhabandhu Sahu to pay Rs 30,000 to facilitate stone quarrying and transportation.
