MLAs and MPs belonging to the ruling BJD today decided to donate one month’s salary for relief and rehabilitation of victims affected by cyclone Phailin and floods that followed in its wake. They will be donating their salaries to the chief minister’s relief fund (CMRF).
BJD chief whip Prabhat Tripahty said the lawmakers have decided to donate one month’s salary to CMRF following the appeal of chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
It is to be noted that the cyclone and the resultant flash floods have wreaked havoc in the state claiming 38 lives while thousands still remained marooned in northern Odisha.
