Bhubaneswar, Jan 15:

Amidst relentless criticism by opposition parties and public alike over NFSA (National Food Security Act) goof-up, mismanagement of drought situation and farmer suicide in Odisha, ruling Biju Janata Dal today started its state-wide party workers’ meet to take the message of the government to the masses.

As per party sources, the meetings that began today would be held in each and every gram panchayat, block and Assembly constituency of the state over the next few days.

The party is taking these meetings seriously and will use them as an important public relation tool to counter the opposition attack and take the welfare schemes of the government to the public. Besides, central negligence will also be an important point of discussion in these meetings, party sources said.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik himself will review the outcomes of major meetings.

“I invite members, workers & volunteers of #BijuJanataDal @bjd_odisha to join in Karmee Sammelani starting across the State from tomorrow,” tweeted Patnaik informing about the series of meetings yesterday.

He has also asked the party managers to ensure that all the meetings are videographed and the video disks are sent to the party headquarter, said a BJD source.

“As I have said before, we are conducting these meetings to strengthen our organisation. We have been conducting similar activities every quarter since the blood donation activity called ‘Jiban Bindu’ was launched. This also is a great opportunity to take the message of the government to the public,” said BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb.
