Body of man swept away in Puri sea in front of son fished out

Puri: Two days after a man went missing in the sea here while taking bath with his son, his body was recovered from Beleswar beach under Konark-Puri Marine police limits late last night.

On receiving information, a police team led by Konark-Puri Marine police station IIC Nilima Patnaik reached the spot and sent the body of deceased Bansidhar Behera for post-mortem.

The body was later handed over to his family members today for his last rites.

Bansidhar, a native of Chhachina village under Basta block in Balasore district, had come to Puri for ‘Mundan’ of his son. Tragedy struck when the 35-year-old was swept away by strong water current while he and his son were enjoying their bath in the sea on the fateful day.

In a video of the incident, purportedly captured by one of his family members, Bansidhar was seen jumping into the water body before going missing.

The incident had sent shock waves across the state.
