Burnt bodies of woman, daughter found in a toilet in Odisha

Charred bodies of a woman and her three-year-old daughter were found dumped in a latrine in Koranda village, under Rajkanika Block in Aul in Kendrapara district of Odisha, today.

The deceased have been identified as Surekha Sahoo and her daughter Snehangini Sahoo, their bodies were found in a toilet 200 meters from their house.

The family of the dead woman has alleged that she was killed for dowry and has lodged a written complaint in the police station.

They said that they were not informed about their daughter’s death and they came to know about the incident from the neighbors, according to reports.

Surekha had married Bikram Sahoo five years ago. He was working in a private firm but was laid off and had returned to the village after two years.

Thereafter, they had started torturing her for dowry for the last three years, her family alleged.

Meanwhile, police has detained Bikram Sahoo and his father and questioning them about the incident.
