Bus fares slashed in Odisha

Odisha government today slashed the bus fares across categories under automatic mechanism.

According to a notification by the Commerce and Transport department, the fare for ordinary buses has been reduced from 56 paise to 55 paise per km, express buses from 59 paise to 58 paise, delux buses from 76 paise to 74 paise and AC delux buses from 97 paise to 95 paise per km.

It may be mentioned that the state government had announced the implementation of the automatic mechanism for revision of fares on June 4 last year conceding a long-standing demand of the All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association.

Under the automatic mechanism system, rise and fall in bus fares would be determined based on the rise and fall of fuel prices.
