Bhubaneswar, Jun 19:

After Jual Oram, senior leader of Odisha BJP Bijoy Mohapatra today took on CBI and alleged that the premier investigating agency has let off the accused in the chit fund scam.

“CBI doesn’t want to take the Odisha chit fund scam investigation forward. It has proved itself to be a bigger culprit than the chit fund companies. Those who have not read the judgement of the Supreme Court shouldn’t bat for the agency,” said Mohapatra.

“As an investigating agency, CBI has drastically failed to carry out its duty. I request everyone not to defend it. It has encouraged the chit fund scam in Odisha. It has let off the accused and is operating as Crime branch says. There is a nexus between the criminal, CBI and the government. The innocent citizens are its victims,” he added.

BJD Spokesperson Amar Prasad Satapathy, however, begged to differ.

“A while back everyone wanted a CBI investigation to the chit fund scam as it is a body of the Union Government that the State Government cannot influence. The investigations are being carried out as directed by the Supreme Court. I have no information and I cannot understand how Crime branch can manage CBI. I believe, no one should make such remarks on the investigation process,” said Satpathy.
