At 98.63% pass, Odisha students excel in CBSE X exams

Odisha students came out with flying colours with a pass percentage of 98.63 in the annual Class X examinations, the results of which were announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today.

Out of a total of 18,299 students from the state who appeared in the examination, 18,048 have cleared the examinations.

In terms of performance, Odisha has outpaced West Bengal and Chhattisgarh under the Bhubaneswar region.

Out of 58,593 students in the Bhubaneswar region, 56,920 have successfully cleared the examinations.

The overall pass results in Bhubaneswar region is 97.14 while the all India overall pass results is 97.32 percent.

In Odisha, the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, which had topped the overall pass percentage in the annual Class XII examinations announced by the CBSE on May 25, have maintained the tempo with a record pass percentage of 99.78 in the Class X examinations followed by 99.08 by the Kendriya Vidyalayas while the remaining privately managed schools have achieved 96.58 percent pass results.

A total of 13,73,853 students – 8,17,941 boys and 5,51,912 girls – in the country had appeared in the examinations held in March this year.

Like previous years, girls have outshone the boys. While 97.23 percent girls have cleared the examinations, the pass percentage of the boys is 95.42.

Earlier in the day, students had to endure an excruciating and anxiety-filled two-hour wait as the results of the Class X examinations were delayed due to what authorities termed ‘unavoidable reasons’. The results, which were to have been announced at noon, were finally announced at 2 pm.
