Silver cladding soon for 3 entrance doors of famous Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri

Bhubaneswar: The doors at three more gates of Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri town will get silver coating soon.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) will give silver coating to the doors at the Elephants’ Gate (West), Tigers’ Gate (North) and Horses’ Gate (South) of the 12th century shrine, sources said.

The temple administration will construct new doors for the three gates before giving them silver coats. The doors will be constructed with Burmese teak, sources added.

The temple authorities require 1,500 kg silver for the purpose. The Reliance Group will donate silver and Burmese teak wood to the shrine. The corporate house will also arranged skilled artisans for the project work.

The work is likely to be completed before this year’s Rath Yatra.

The SJTA had given sliver coating to the doors at Beharana, Jay-Vijay, Bhogamandap and Satapahacha gates inside the shrine in 2022.

The doors at the Lions’ Gate of the shrine were given silver coating during last year’s Rath Yatra.
