A three-foot-long cobra was rescued yesterday from the coach guard area of Biju Patnaik International Airport in the Odisha Capital.

Some of the tower workers saw the venomous snake roaming around in the backyards of the coach guard office at about 9 AM in the morning yesterday and called up the Snake Helpline.

Suvendu Mallick of Snake Helpline rescued the snake from the airport and released it in its natural habitat.

“Given that planes are kept near the coach guard area, the snake could have entered the plane through the lower openings and led to casualties if not spotted in time,” said Mallick.

It may be noted that this is not the first instance of a snake being rescued from the airport. Earlier, on March 29, another three-foot-long cobra was rescued from the DVRO room of the airport.
