Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim served showcause notice for cross voting

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President today served a show-cause notice to Cuttack-Barabati MLA Mohammed Moquim for casting his vote to NDA President candidate Draupadi Murmu against the party’s decision and  indulging in anti-party activities.

OPCC Chief Sarat Pattanayak asked the legislator to submit his response in two weeks.

“Whereas you are indulging yourself and deliberately acting and carrying on propaganda against the programmes and decision of the Congress and as you are frequently addressing the electronic media deliberately acting in a way calculated to lower the prestige of Congress and carrying on propaganda against Congress and its office-bearers thereof,” the notice read.

“Please explain within two weeks why disciplinary action shall not be taken against you as deemed proper as per the Constitution of the Indian National Congress (INC) and its rules,” the PCC said in the notice.

Earlier, the OPCC Chief had announced that the party would support UPA’s candidate Yashwant Sinha for the country’s highest post.

Earlier, the MLA had stated that he voted for Draupadi Murmu giving respect to the sentiments of the people of Odisha as she belongs to his own State (Matira Jhiaku Vote Deli)
