COVID-19: Section 144 withdrawn in Bhadrak & Gajapati districts

Bhadrak/Gajapati: In view of the revised instructions and restrictions for social distancing, prohibitory orders under Section 144 were withdrawn/ modified in Bhadrak and Gajapati districts today.

Earlier yesterday, the prohibitory orders were lifted in Balangir and Jajpur districts.

“Provision of Section 144, CrPC shall not be invoked either the District Magistrates and Police in Commissionerate area to enforce Social distancing rather it should be implemented through IEC and awareness build up and media campaign,” read the official communique.

However, restrictions will be in force on organising marriage functions and other gatherings. Strict vigilance should be maintained by all concerned to enforce social distancing in village and urban haats, public transport systems, public utilities, Government offices, supermarkets, temples, mosques and other religious places, banks, post offices, health facilities and workplaces for effective containment of epidemic.
