COVID-19 warrior dies while on duty in Odisha
Angul: Amid ongoing battle against COVID-19 by healthcare workers to save Odisha from clutches of novel coronavirus, a pall of gloom descended on Urukula village under Kishore Nagar block in Angul district after a COVID warrior died while on duty on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Abanti Pradhan, a 50-year- old ASHA worker and resident of Urukula village.
As per sources, Abanti was out for duty on Sunday morning. While conducting a survey related to COVID-19 at the village, she fell to the ground and collapsed. She was was immediately rushed to Kishor Nagar Community Healthcare Centre (CHC) in a 108 ambulance for treatment. Later, the on-duty doctors declared her dead.
Worth mentioning, Asha workers, who are majorly picked from rural communities, are now playing crucial role in fight against COVID-19. They are visiting door-to-door to educate families about the virus and safety measures. They have also been assigned to monitor people for the virus symptoms.
