Yellow alert: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely in Odisha districts till May 12

Bhubaneswar: With the prevalent trough from north Interior Odisha to southeast Rajasthan becoming less marked, thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH are very likely to occur at one or two places over several districts of Odisha till May 12. The IMD regional centre in Bhubaneswar today issued Yellow alert for these five days.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD said, “Maximum temperatures observed marked fall at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and at most places over the districts of Interior Odisha, appreciable fall at one or two places over the districts of Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were markedly below normal at a few places over the districts of Odisha, appreciably below normal at a few places over the districts of Odisha, below normal at one or two places, and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”

Temperature forecast: No large change in Maximum (day) temperature during next four to five days at many places over the districts of Odisha.

The highest maximum (day) temperature of 39.3°C was recorded yesterday at Malkangiri and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 20.6°C was recorded at Nabarangpur in the plains of Odisha.

For Wednesday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 09.05.2024)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Kandhamal, and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: (Be Updated)-

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, and Ganjam.

Thunderstorm with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Gajapati, and Rayagada.

For Thursday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 09.05.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 10.05.2024)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH and heavy rainfall are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, and Balasore.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Koraput.
