Critical COVID patient from Odisha under ECMO treatment dies in Kolkata

Bhubaneswar: Critical Covid patient Abhisekh Mohapatra of Odisha, who had been undergoing ECMO treatment in past three months at a private hospital in Kolkata, died, informed his family source today.

The 28 years old Abhisekh, a resident of Mandari village under Basudevpur Block in Bhadrak district, was airlifted from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata on June 9.  Since then, he was under treatment in Kolkata for lung ailments caused by the Covid-19.

His family had taken him to Kolkata through an air ambulance for the expensive treatment after collecting Rs.3,508,957 through fundraising platform.

A month after his wedding, Abhisekh was admitted to the Kalinga Hospital, Bhubaneswar, on May 18, after being diagnosed with Covid-19.
