Cyclone Gulab: PM Modi assures Odisha CM of Centre’s support

Bhubaneswar: As the Cyclonic storm ‘Gulab’ over Bay of Bengal moving closer to landmass and weathermen predicted it will make a landfall between Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today and assured all kind of support.

Modi discussed with Patnaik on the cyclone situation in parts of the State. He also wished safety and wellbeing of everyone.

In a tweet, Modi wrote, “Discussed the cyclone situation in parts of Odisha with CM @Naveen_Odisha Ji. The Centre assures all possible support in overcoming this adversity. Praying for the safety and well-being of everybody.”

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Cyclone Gulab is likely to cross north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts between Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur with maximum sustained wind speed of 75-85 kmph gusting to 95 kmph, around midnight today. The landfall process will begin from late evening today, IMD added.

At present, the Cyclone is being monitored by Doppler Weather RADAR at Visakhapatnam. Light to moderate rainfall has commenced over south coastal Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh since early morning today.
