Cyclonic circulation intensifies; Rain likely in Odisha till Oct 9

Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic circulation over east-central Bay of Bengal has intensified and is likely to turn into a low pressure within the next 48 hours, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre predicted today.

Under its influence, heavy rainfall likely to occur in coastal Odisha on October 5, heavy to very heavy rainfall in coastal and interior Odisha on October 6 & 7 and heavy rainfall likely to occur in interior Odisha on October 8 & 9, it forecasted.

Besides, rain/thundershower likely to occur at most places over Odisha till October 9, it added.

Strong and gusty surface wind speed reaching 35 to 45 kmph likely to prevail along and off Odisha coast for which fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea.

On the other hand, thunderstorm with lightning and rainfall likely to occur over the districts of Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Boudh, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sundergarh, Puri, Khorda, Nayagarh, Angul, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Dhenkanal between 4.30 pm and 8.30 pm today.
