The administrative action was taken based on an inquiry report submitted by Nabarangpur District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) and Protection Officer Sasmita Mohanty acting on the order of Collector Kamal Lochan Mishra.
It is pertinent to mention, the bizarre incident took place at the CDPO’s office in Dabugaon on July 1. A video of the incident had surfaced on various social media platforms and gone viral.
CDPO Maharana and head clerk Santoshi Mishra had indulged in a heated argument over an unresolved issue, which escalated when Maharana allegedly lost her temper and pushed Mishra from the chair. Despite attempts by other staffers to intervene and prevent Maharana's misconduct, she continued to hurl verbal abuse at the head clerk.
The entire incident was captured on video by someone present in the office, who later uploaded it on a social media platform. The video drew widespread attention to the shocking incident.
Mishra claimed that Maharana accused her of participating in a strike and threatened to mark the day as absent. The victim, however, defended herself by stating that she had arrived at the office, signed the attendance register, and had not taken part in any strike.
CDPO Maharana refuted the allegations of physically pushing the head clerk. Maharana had explained that upon her return from an area visit, Mishra approached her in a raised voice regarding the salary issue. As a meeting was already in progress, Maharana requested Mishra to leave the room. Maharana denied any physical altercation with the head clerk.
