Death of journalist Navin Das’ son: Police trace car, detain friend

Bhubaneswar: As mystery continues to shroud the death of senior journalist Navin Das’ elder son Manish Anurag, the Commissionerate Police today traced another car, in which the deceased had gone to a hotel in Patrapada area on the city outskirts along with his two friends the previous night of the incident.

Earlier, few hours before Manish’s body was recovered from a pond on October 10, his car was found parked near a dhaba in Infocity area.

Besides, the cops have detained one of the two friends for interrogation and are on the lookout to nab the other one. The preliminary result of post-mortem conducted at AIIMS Bhubaneswar revealed that the 30-year-old died due to respiratory failure.

Earlier yesterday, the CP sent diatoms extracted from body of the deceased and the samples collected from the waterbody to forensic laboratory for diatom test to know the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, Navin Das, Editor of Odia daily ‘Nirbhay’, has alleged that his son was killed by his friends.
