Depression likely to trigger heavy rainfall in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A fresh low pressure area is very likely to form over north Andaman Sea and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal around October 9. The system is likely to move northwestwards towards north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts with gradual intensification into a depression during subsequent 2-3 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.

Under its influence, enhanced rainfall activity is likely to occur over north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha during October 11-13, it said.

On the other hand, a low pressure area lies over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha coast causing rainfall across the state.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued Yellow Warning for Ganjam, Koraput, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Boudh, Angul, Cuttack, Deogarh, Gajapati and Sonepur districts for today regarding heavy rainfall.
