Divorce case: Odisha MP Anubhav asks media to respect privacy

Bhubaneswar: In a request to media, Actor and Kendrapada MP Anubhav Mohanty today stated personal space and privacy of him and actress wife Varsha Priyadarshini must be respected after a copy of the divorce petition filed by him against Varsha got leaked into the media.

In a statement, the Parliamentarian said the matter in connection with his divorce petition in Patiala House Court in Delhi is subjudice and it would be inappropriate to comment further on it.

“But I would like to request all of you to kindly respect the personal space, privacy and dignity of Varsha, her family, my family and me. It is one of the most painful and sad phases in my life, yet it is my personal life and I request all of you to kindly respect it and not resort to rumor mongering,” the statement added.

He further informed his father has been unwell for the past few months. “In these troubling times, it pains me to see the malicious, fictitious, frivolous and baseless accusations that have been leveled against me,” it read.

It’s worth mentioning that Varsha had filed a criminal miscellaneous case against actor-turned-politician Anubhav on August 7 accusing him of domestic violence and torture. It seemed everything was not okay between Anubhav and Varsha when a copy of Varsha’s case appeared in the media yesterday.

Also, earlier in the day, a copy of the divorce petition filed by Anubhav in Patiala House Court, Delhi on July 6 got leaked to the media making the situation murkier.

In his statement issued later, Anubhav stated, “I respect Varsha as a woman, as an individual and also as a hard worker. I and my lawyer ensured that my petition doesn’t leak in any case because it was a case of marital discord.”

He further said, “I have maintained a staunch silence on this matter since last few months and never intended to make my personal life public but since there are agenda driven stories being written about me on media, I am compelled to speak up.”

Meanwhile, Varsha took to Twitter and reacted, “Truth can never remain hidden. One should fear god before blaming someone with fake & false allegations. I have complete faith in almighty. Nothing above law. I need blessing of each & everyone in this toughest time which I am going through. Trying to break the silence …”
