Drone surveillance at stations in Odisha soon

Rourkela: With an aim to provide better security to railway passengers and ensure safety of railway properties, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) today review the situation at Rourkela station and adjacent areas by flowing drones.

A special team of RPF reviewed the condition of rail tracks as well from Phatapipe to Malgodown stretch of Howrah-Mumbai route with the help of drones. The operation was undertaken for one and half hours.

RPF sources said drones will also help strengthening the security arrangement at stations and thereby, put a curb on criminal activities.

As trains pass through Maoist-infested areas of Chakradharpur railway division, drones will help the RPF evade possible damage to railway properties or attack on trains, the sources added.
