According to reports, the former Assistant Block Education Officer (ABEO) of Khunta Bhagaban Mohapatra was arrested by the local police from his rented house here today.

Mohapatra was on the run since last five months after a case was registered with Khunta police in March this year in this regard. Acting on a tip-off, the cops raided the house and apprehended him.

The forgery came to the fore following an RTI application seeking details of educational details of Mohapatra. When he did not comply to the query, the applicant moved the appellate authorities.

In view of this, the DEO formed a probe team comprising Block Education Officers (BEOs) of Gopabandhu Nagar and Badasahi to investigate into the matter.

When Mohapatra was asked to produce documents, he adopted a dilly-dallying attitude saying that he had applied to the varsity for duplicate copies of his degree and BEd mark sheets.

Later, he was served show cause notice as he failed to submit the documents before the probe team.
