Fake doctor on duty in Odisha hospital apprehended

Sources said the accused had approached the security guard of the O&G department of the hospital and asked him the way to the ward by identifying himself as a newly appointed doctor.

Bhadrak: In a shocking incident, a youth impersonating  a doctor was caught red-handed in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology department of the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Odisha’s Bhadrak here today. He was identified as Rajiv from Jajpur district.

Sources said the accused had approached the security guard of the O&G department of the hospital and asked him the way to the ward by identifying himself as a newly appointed doctor. However, while doing a regular round checking, the chief district medical officer (CDMO) spotted the youth roaming with a stethoscope and asked him some regular questions. When he was unable to answer, the CDMO got suspicious and reported him to the police desk at the hospital. When the security personnel detained the accused and started interrogating him, it was found that he was a fake doctor.

While Rajiv has been detained, further investigation is underway to ascertain his motive behind posing as a doctor and entering the hospital.

Meanwhile, the health scenario in the district has come under scanner with the rise of fake doctors.
