Farmer commits suicide over loan burden in Odisha’s Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: A farmer of Madiguda village in Odisha’s Kalahandi district died today after allegedly consuming poison yesterday over crop loss and loan burden. The deceased has been identified as Bahadur Rama (45).

According to reports, he had taken a loan of Rs 4 lakh for cotton farming on four acres of land. Unfortunately, he suffered crop loss and couldn’t repay the loan.

Yesterday, he took the extreme step by consuming poison at his farmland. He was rescued and admitted to the Titlagarh hospital, where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
