Florence Nightingale Award for Odia ANM

In recognition of her remarkable work in the field of pre and post-natal healthcare in rural areas, Padmabati Meher, Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) of Jogimunda Sub-centre of Ghashain Community Health Centre (CHC) in Patnagarh block of Odisha’s Balangir district, has been selected for the National Florence Nightingale Award for nursing personnel 2014.

Ms Meher would be receiving the prestigious award from President Pranab Mukherjee at a formal ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on May 12.

She would receive the award for her dedicated service in the safe institutional deliveries and spreading awareness among rural womenfolks.

This was informed by Dr Biswas Mehta, joint director, Union Health and Family Welfare ministry, in a letter to the Odisha government recently.

Ms Meher has conducted 674 safe deliveries at the Jogimunda sub-centre between April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014
