Former chairman of Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) Dr Hadibandhu Mirdha today passed away at his residence here, family sources said.
A prominent tribal academic, Dr Mirdha was 74 and is survived by wife, two sons and five daughters.
Dr Mirdha was born at Barpali in Bargarh district and was the OPSC chairman from 1999 to 2002. He has authored several books.
He was suffering from old age related health problems at the time of his death.
His last rites are scheduled to be held here tomorrow.
A person who left indelible footprints in the society. Apart from his academic and administrative excellence he had traversed miles in the field of Western Odisha culture and tradition. On his sad demise Western Odisha has lost a great son in the intellectual gathering.
