Fresh cyclonic storm heads for Andhra coast, Odisha to be least affected

Odisha Sun Times Weather Bureau
Bhubaneswar, Nov 6:

A fresh cyclonic storm, brewing in the Bay of Bengal, is likely to hit the North Andhra Pradesh coast- south of Visakhapatanam- but will spare Odisha, international weather sites said today.

However, it has the appearance of a category 1 storm, far less in intensity when compared to Cyclone Hudhud which devastated Visakhapatanam and adjoining areas along the north Andhra coast last month.
TC05bThe Indian Meteorological Department, which described the system as a depression on Wednesday night, has predicted its further intensification into a deep depression and indicated its movement towards the Andhra coast.

International weather sites have referred to it as Tropical cyclone 05b (five).

The storm, which was last located approximately 650 km north-northwest of Port Blair and 600 km southeast of Visakhapatnam, has tracked west-northwestward over the past six hours. It is likely to make a landfall by Saturday, the weather sites have predicted.

“The system should make landfall south of Visakhapatnam and rapidly dissipate below the warning threshold,” the dependable weather site tropicalstormrisk said this morning.
