HC lawyers’ cease work till Oct 30

OST Bureau
Cuttack, Oct 26:

The Odisha High Court Bar Association on Friday decided not to go for its proposed Cuttack Bandh at present.

The Association, however, decided to continue its ongoing boycott of courts till October 30.

The Association has been boycotting the courts for about a month protesting against the recommendation by the state government for setting up High Court Benches in southern and western Odisha.

The decision came after the steering committee met with various representatives including the members of Peace Committees, Puja Committees and other organisations of the city who expressed their solidarity with the city lawyers and resolved to support any move of the lawyers.

Stating that the decision of the state government is politically motivated, secretary of HC Bar Association Janmejaya Katakia, said the ruling BJD would be held responsible for any attempt to belittle the image of Cuttack city.

He informed that a delegation of the Association would meet the Chief Justice of the High Court to apprise him of their stand on the contentious issue of permanent Benches after a general body meeting on October 30 to chalk out future course of action.
