Heavy rainfall to continue in Odisha for next 24 hours

With most parts of interior and coastal Odisha experiencing heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours, the local Met office here has predicted that there will be no change in the weather forthe next 24 hours.

heavy rains“The low pressure area, which was lying over west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal off south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts yesterday, turned into a well-marked low pressure area and was lying over north-west and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of coastal Odisha at 8.30 AM today with the extension of associated upper air cyclonic up to 7.6 km above the mean sea levels. Under its influence, rain or thundershower would occur at most places over Odisha with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over interior districts and heavy rainfall at one or two places over coastal districts during next 24 hours,” the Met office said in a release issued this afternoon.

The Met office has advised the fishermen to be cautious while venturing into sea as gusty surface wind from north-easterly direction with spedd reaching 40-45 kmph and gusting up to 50 kmph would prevail along and off the coast during the period making the sea condition rough.
