The budding footballer faced a hurdle to obtain a passport as he did not have a birth certificate, a must-have document needed for the travel permit as a proof of age.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Mayor Anant Narayan Jena’s assurance to help him procure the certificate came as a blessing in disguise for the talented footballer to train in the European club.

The 11-year-old from Sabar Sahi Slum in the city has been selected to train at Bayern Munich, the iconic football club in Germany, as an academy player. He will get training for two months.

He was selected to train at Bayern Munich at an all-India competition at Pune recently.

Notably, the Bayern Munich Junior Team was founded in 1902 and it has produced some of Europe’s top footballers including Thomas Müller, Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Holger Badstuber, Joshua Kimmich and Owen Hargreaves.
